The latest version of Air VaporMax Air VaporMax 2019 was launched after a variety of hybrid variants of Air VaporMax 97 and AIR VaporMax Plus, as well as the latest versions including Air VaporMax Moc and AIR VaporMax 2.

Compared with Air Vapor Max 2, the 2009 variant has a similar shape to the previous version, but the upper is updated with a translucent material similar to Nike React Element 87. Additional design details were mentioned, including larger and higher TPU heel clips for enhanced support, and TPU coatings to provide new color aesthetics for sneakers.
